  • New Brownstone owner looking for Mantel

Hello Brownstoner community,My wife and I are new owners of an Italianette Brownstone in Clinton Hill. At some point our front parlor lost its mantel. The majority of the Italianette houses that we've been in in Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights, Ft Green, Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, etc. all have virtually the same mantel in the front parlor (sometimes referred to as a "big foot" mantel), and we're determined to find one that fits our chimney stack where the original was (measures 61.75" wide). I have Eddie on Greene and Kenny at Mercantile looking for...  More»

Of course it's their decision, they should do whatever they like, but any broker would tell you that the added value of intact details like that far outweighs the space gained by moving them. An arch like that will sell/rent an apartment/house faster and at a higher price. See More »

  • Pocket door for sale

I bought this really nice pocket door to use in my bathroom renovation - and then was quite sad to discover that when the pocket door hardware says "doors up to 2" thick" it doesn't actually include 2" doors. So - the door didn't fit in the pocket.Anyway, my error could be happiness for you - the door is 30.25x83x2, solid, and gorgeous. I'd like to make a little money back on it ($40 would be nice), but am really more concerned that it ends up used and not trashed, so that can be negotiable. Post if you're interested; I'm in Greenwood Heights.  More»
