  • Mobile and other bugs

Come on, please make - that the forum is not "read only" on iPhone - that links that get posted are functional- that the page works fluently even when you happen to have a password storage program like Last Pass on Also, I think the reaon because there are no ongoing discussions because the topics just get moved down despite if someone posts or not, and once they are on page 2 no one looks at them. Some maintenance would be greatly appreciated  More»

I frequently read and post on my iphone. You have to do a bit of scaling to log in, but it's definitely workable in Safari. I agree that the discussions that fall off the first page get almost no traffic. See More »

  • SANBORN MAPS (obtained by private homeowners)

PLEASE --NO ANSWERS FROM PROFESSIONALS SEEKING PROJECTS-- THANK YOU Has any private homeowner been to 209 Joralemon St for the purpose of obtaining a Sanborn Map of their property for a DOB project? Just trying to get a feel for what I am up against (time, cost, aggravation, etc). I am a professional, but I'm not interested in getting paid to go get sanborns. The easiest way is to contact EDR (edrnet.com) and ask them for a sanborn package. You can get a certified copy of 10-15 of them in dates ranging from 1888 to present, emailed to you in usually less than a day or two, ...... See More »

Hi, unfortunately, we have run into this problem with our building too. The implied housing warranty does still apply to plumbing and electrical stuff in individual units in your case, but we were told that the roof is a trickier question. • Dramatic increase in rent - how much notice is required?

I live in a one bedroom apartment brownstone apartment with my boyfriend. We received an email from our landlord this Tuesday saying that she plans to increase our rent $325/month starting on September 1st and that we need to let her know by Monday whether we intend to stay. We are currently month to month tenants because she would not renew our lease after the first year. When we rented the apartment 2 years ago our rent was $2,000/month. Last year she raised the rent by $75. If we accept this current increase, we'll be up to $2,400/month.

From what I understand, the terms will continue to be month-to-month, so accepting the increase does not lock you into a long term comitment to the higher rent. If you want to leave Sept. 30 you can. Paying the increase for one month to buy the time to find something better and cheaper may be worth...... See More »
  • Why do I need to accept "Third-Party Cookies" to post on Brownstoner?

While I'm sure that Brownstoner's cookies are fine, other third-party cookies sometimes can be problematic. Changing my settings every time I want to post here is just too much of a pain.

Since this switch, I haven't posted or commented on the new site and find myself visiting less--though that may have more to do with the redesign or perhaps my interest in the subject, I suppose.

I'm accepting them for this session, but will be switching back as soon as I post this.
