Look, we do these all the time. As for the load bearing comments, we are not architects and sometimes I ask the customer to get an architect - and many times they are so confident that the wall is not load bearing (we usually have a pretty good idea) that they ask me to proceed; we do and we treat ...... See More »

Clinton Hill? Why not take advantage of all the craftspeople in the nearby Brooklyn Navy Yard. Hammertime does a great job at a reasonable price, see the Brownstoner Directory under Radiator Covers. I can do that too, with more attention to interior renovation, Green Mountain, under Tile and Ston...... See More »

You might be able to do this yourself or just fix what is there. I recently added crown molding to the hallway in my apartment, which I did with the help of a friend. I'm not very good with home improvements but it only took us a Saturday afternoon. The only issue was that my walls are not stra...... See More »
  • Library or Loft Ladder

Hi There,We want to find a library or loft-type ladder for getting up into a loft storage area of our new apartment. It doesn't have to be as fancy as the one in he picture, but something that can stay in place and look better than your average carpentry ladder. I looked it up online and they seem very expensive - mostly custom made - especially with the wheels. If anyone has any ideas on where to buy a premade one or someone who makes them in Brooklyn area ,it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!  More»
