  • Need doorstop questions for brownstone restoration

    I had assumed we would use the standard little stick w rubber tip thingy attached to the baseboard. The contractor pointed out that the door casings are so large that these aren't going to be long enough and we'll be pulling the doors off their hinges or something? He's suggested we use the those ugly things you put into the floor. I don't know why putting anything in the floor makes me cringe, but it does. What have those of you out there used?  More»

  • Pocket Door Hardware / Latch

    I have a pocket door to my powder room with the very standard latch pictured here - which is very unreliable in a household with a toddler. Does anyone have suggestions or sources for a better piece of hardware? I could dummy up a slide bolt or even hook and eye but am hoping for a more sophisticated solution. Thanks in advance.  More»

  • Where can I find Vintage Door Knobs?

  • Does anyone know someone who does pocket door work?

    Doing some renovations and updates and painting and I have a few double pocket doors I would like someone to take a look at to make sure they are riding correctly but the real issue is with one single pcoket door. i need someone to check the track and give advice on what nees to be done and then hopfuly do the work! I have reached out to Rick Ladd based on a recomend on this site but he is too busy with work on for the next couple months so looking for someone along those lines! Thanks.  More»

  • Pocket doors repair

    I'm looking for a handyman who can repair some stuck pocket doors in my parents house. At the very least, they seem to have come off the track, but there may be some hardware needed. The rail/track itself seems to be in good condition.  More»

    Ours were working fine until a rewiring project cluttered up the interior spaces with debris.   • Anyone Want Pocket Doors for Free?

    Arched pocket doors available free if picked up this weekend. From parlor of a Carroll Gardens brownstone. Hate to see them go to waste. They are 8' 3'' by 3' 3''. Picture below.

  • Looking for a place that can cut steel/metal doors.

    Hi All! Happy New Year! I am in the process of putting down a new floor over the old one. I have to cut the exisiting metal front doors so the floor and the saddle can fit. Does any one know a place where I can take the doors and get them cut on site? I have a station wagon and can haul them over, but I don't want to be without front doors for any period of time.     Bring them to Statewide Fireproof Door on 3rd street in Park Slope or Long Island Fireproof door in Queens. They should be able to trim them if you don't feel comfortabe doing it yourself. They are also a good place to order replacments in case the old doors don't work out. See More »
