HBranty asked about this. My showers are shaped to fit the space available. This is a larger bathroom, but I waterproof the whole room, so the position of glass panels and doors are also configured for the best use of space in a smaller bathroom.

Sample Landmark Package?

We are replacing street-facing windows this year. The rear was a breeze (used Lucky Window Products (LWP) / Robert Basile) and the windows look beautiful and weathered the winter well. We went with Trimline's Eclipse model, wooden interior, aluminum exterior. Since we're landmarked, we have to go with all wood windows this time for the street-facing windows. Two questions:
1) Wewant the least obtrusive method possible. Our home is finished and we don't want to live through the mess of a brick-to-brick installation and don't see the need for it either. LWP recommended Trimline's Ultra-Fit Sash Replacement System - http://www.trimlinewindows.com/ultrafit.asp - and said they've installed it in landmarked homes in and around Brooklyn. Does anyone have any experience with these windows and this type of installation? OR other recommendations.
2) I am doing the landmark package myself ... wondering if anyone has any tips or samples that you are willing to share.

I was very surprised to find two 3 foot wide channels of concrete about 10 inches under the soil on both sides of the garden (from the house to the back). There is nothing in the middle of the garden. When I started to dig up the concrete I found it had been poured on top of beautiful thick bluestone / slate! Thankfully the concrete was easy to break and peel off from the slate so we could recycle the stone to create the patio.
Does anyone have any idea what use the concrete served? And what about the slate? Was that the original cover for the garden? Why pour concrete on top? Why only on the sides of the garden? See The Answers

Uninstalling Custom Shelves

Rather foolishly, we had custom shelves installed into a rental apartment. Much to our chagrin, the owner decided to sell our place 5 months into our lease. The owner is not interested in paying for the shelves and we spent a decent amount of money on them. They will fit in our new place, though we've yet to broach the possibility with the landlord, which we would obviously do first, having learned our lesson. They are 83" wide and about 1.5 inches thick. Has anyone had experience with this? Does it do a great deal of harm to the walls? Will the cost of removing and reinstalling be worth the risk and hassle? I read that white glossy ceramic will reple heat better than the alum asphalt though i'm not sure if that can be so easily applied. Feedback, suggestions appreciated. Thanks
