Combined structural and mechanical (HVAC) engineer?

10:27 PM 11/08/2012

I'm looking for a firm/individual who can provide both structural and mechanical (HVAC) services.  I need stamped plans as well as inspections.  Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Two very different disciplines.  I've never seen one engineer who does both.  You may find a large firm that has both.

As someone who reviews a lot of blueprints and works with a number of engineering firms, I can second that these disciplines are not handled by one individual.  Firms and individuals must now also be registered as a Special Inspection Agency with the DOB.  What are you building?

    • I am renovating a duplex in a coop. The work is relatively minor (new HVAC system and removal of part of one load bearing wall) but the quotes I'm getting from each type of engineer are higher than anticipated. I was wondering if I might do better $ wise if one firm did both. Thanks for the help.

I would hire a structural engineer and let the contractor handle the HVAC design
