Price to fix bluestone sidewalk

7:47 AM 02/06/2013

Hi all
My insurance company says that I have to fix my sidewalk as it is a tripping hazard.
It is mostly bluestone which I would like lifted, leveled and re-set. The first estimate is $1100. Has anyone got experience of this? I got the quote from a company that has done various jobs for me, so I am trying to see if that's a fair price before I seek out other quotes.
If that's not a reasonable price, please could someone recommend a company to call.
Thanks!

The price you've been quoted sounds like it's in the ballpark, though you don't say how many sq feet of sidewalk need to be tackled. It's a tricky job: simultaneously back-breaking and fussy (the brownstone slabs can break if they aren't moved very carefully).

Give me a call I will swing by and take a look. Is it a bluestone slab that needs re-setting? Or do you also need some bluestone patching repairs? 917.502.5704 Robert

I have the same problem and am looking for a licensed contractor who is competent and reliable.  Have unsuccessfully dealt with Vinroy Baronet of Park Slope Brownstone whose work was sloppy and resulted in fines against my property.
It is essential that the contractor I hire have excellent insurance and obtain a certificate of additional insured in my name.
