Roofer to come to pre-purchase home inspection?

7:26 AM 12/09/2011

I am ready for inspection on a property I am looking to purchase but have some concerns about roof condition and possible repair cost.  I trust my home inspector's expertise, but would it be smart to have a roofer come along too since I have some particular concerns about the roof condition and possible repair cost which is something an inspector might not be able to answer.
Would this be something I would pay the roofer for if it was a roofer that usually gave free estimates anyway?  Is this something that is done often?  Would a roofer even be willing to do this? If so, does anyone know of a roofer who might be open to doing this and also a quality roofer?
Thanks!

OP here- to be clear, we have agreed on a price, but I have not signed a contract and the roof may be an item that could potentially change my offer if it is in bad shape.

I don't see why not.  Try Nick at leakmasters.  A new roof for a brownstone would be $6,000 - 8,000 as long as a tearoff isn't required.
