Big house on 86th and Ridge Boulevard

There's a huge, over-the-top house on the corner of Ridge Boulevard and 86th street in Bay Ridge. Kind of too ornate imho and not quite blending with the neighborhood, but very impressive nonetheless.
Does anyone know more about it? Is it entirely a recent construction or does it have some historic heritage?

    I used to live in Bay Ridge when this house was redone. It looked similar to the other house tha is located one block up, I think on 85th street before renovation. Project took I think about 2 years, I walked by pretty often during this time ( 10 or so years ago).
