Cheap, but nice looking kitchen suggestions?

5:49 PM 05/19/2012

Hello-
I am looking for an alternative to the cheap compressed wood bases, cabinets that we usually pick up from the Chinese-run places around Myrtle Avenue (for a rental). I was thinking about IKEA, but am not sure about quality? And difficulty assembling? Any experiene or other suggestions?
Thanks!
Cat

Most of stuff at Ikea is a bit cheap, but their kitchens are great in my opinion. I have one for years and I never had regrets

I've had Ikea cabinets in a rental for over 25 years and they still look great.

I've done a fair amount of research into Ikea kitchen cabinets (will probably install them in my house reno) and the consensus is they are the best quality for that price range, and come with some higher-end features like full extension drawers and dampers.  If you are going to hire someone to install them, make sure it's someone with experience installing Ikea cabinets or someone willing to read and follow the instructions - apparently the installation is different than with other cabinets.
