Tanning Salon in Boerum Hill?

Do you think a tanning salon would be successful in the downtown Brooklyn neighborhood of Boerum/Cobble Hill ?

    There is already a tanning salon on smith street a few doors down from the president street F train stop that has been around for a long time. Started as a small space on top of for your body only gym on court street and as of two years ago they moved to smith street.

    I about fell out of my chair when I saw that photo.  Can't be true (I thought), but after some googling, it does seem to be the case:  www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7407244n
     
    While the woman pictured is probably out of her gourd, even limited indoor tanning is pretty crazy.  From the Centers for Disease Control:  "Indoor tanning has been linked with skin cancers including melanoma (the deadliest type of skin cancer), squamous cell carcinoma, and cancers of the eye (ocular melanoma).  www.cdc.gov/cancer/skin/basic_info/indoor_tanning.htm

      She was arrested (maybe cleared later) of child neglect as she left her child somewhere while she waas tanning. All over the news about a year ago. Yep, that's her.
