We took down some old panelling. The plaster walls underneath are in good shape except for the gluee marks. What is the best way to cover up or remove the glue pror tpainting?
We used scaped what we could then used a orbital sander to smooth the surface down. Working down from 50 or 80 grit to 180 or 220 grit. Then spackeled some drywall compound and re-sanded. Worked great for us.
Ooops, you can skip the fine sanding the first time if you're planing to lay some other material down first. We decided to lay down some drywall compound to hide the dark glue marks that the paint was having a hard time covering up. YMMV.
