Hi
I would like to buy a Miele cannister vacuum - one of the cheaper ones for less than $500. There are many models in the $300-500 range and it's hard to really tell any discernible difference between them. If anyone has a model in that price range that they are very happy with, please recommend. (I hope this isn't too off topic. I will use the vacuum to clean my brownstone!)
Thanks!

Go to Brooks Appliance in Park Slope and they will explain all the differences. Their prices are pretty close to what you get online. All the Mieles have the same motor but the attachments are different. It all comes down to what kinds of surfaces you will need to vacuum. If you choose wrong you can always buy the better attachments a la carte anyway.

brooks is great store and prices are the same as online. I read about the miele's online and basic opinion was spend more if you have carpet or pets... but when my husband went into brooks to look he said the basic $300 one was made with plasticky parts so he was leaning toward the $400 one. then we bought a mattress instead so can't report back about the decision.
