Repair for wood flooring?

5:36 PM 02/09/2012

Any recommendations for someone to repair a hardwood floor?  I don't need an artist, just hoping for someone competent, affordable, and totally fluent in English.  Funny, all the floor guys used to be Irish, but that doesn't seem to be true any more.

I had a very good experience with Sean (yes, Irish) at Old Oak Floors.  It was a finish job - not repair - but I suspect he can do it all.

    • I also used Sean at Old Oak - found him on the forum to begin with. He's repaired and refinished for me, and done a great job.

Screw the Irish, lazy drunks. (I'm part Irish).  Use Jose.  His English is better than most Irish and he did a great job replacing missing Greek key pieces in my floor and patching in a few 3" strips as well

Agree with DIBS. The Irish all went back home since their economy picked up. But they'll be back now that it's in the tank again. Screw em. (Married Irish and I'm an Irish citizen, so I'm allowed to say that.)

Besides, who wants to pay Guinness prices when you can get a better job and pay Corona prices.  :)

DIbs, if I have a really simple job--to replace a saddle in an ex-doorway with flush oak strips like at other openings, would he do it? (Some guys don't want to bother.)

Actually, my floor guy is American. I think I'm paying Bud prices though, not some bad local microbrew price.

I'm not finding a listing for Old Oak Floors - do you happen to have a number?
By the way, my comment about the Irish was just a neutral observation.  Doesn't matter to me as long as there's no language problem.  M, I'd be happy to call an American, obviously.
