Is it appropriate to send a gift to the mortgage broker who helped me refinace my house? If so, what? Or would an email suffice...

    A referral is the greatest compliment...seriously, it's incredible the kind of volume those guys have to generate to make a living.

    Your mortgage broker received a commission for the refi, so you don't need to further compensate him/her. However, referrals or a nice handwritten note mailed via USPS would also work. Receiving an regular letter is such a treat these days, when most of what gets put in the mailbox is solicitations.
