Pulling permits without an expediter?

8:34 PM 01/23/2013

DOB just approved plans for our alt 1 townhouse renovation. Our architects used the new HUB system to have the plans approved which was pretty painless. Next step is to actually go the DOB and pull the permits. Anyone have any experience doing it themselves without an expediter ?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe your contractor will have to pull the permits. The building department usually requires proof of disability, liability, & workmen's compensation which contractors usually carry, & all must be current.....

expedite is right, the contractor can pull their own permit - they may do it themselves, or have their own expediter do it.  The HUB system's focues on filing/approval, which for DOB is a separate category from permits.

Your contractor can handle it although they will in some way pass along the cost to you. All contractors I know have expediters that will go down and pull permits for them. If a contractor actually had time to do that himself rather than building jobs then that would worry me even more.
