I need an L shaped guardrail with a door for the top of a staircase in my backyard. Currently there isn't anything there and we need something that can be welded into the cobblestones on the ground floor. My experience with DVS Ironworks in Gowanus was horrible so I turn to you, Brownstoner community, and hope you can me in your infinate wisdom. :)
DVS quoted me at $400 which sounds reasonable, but they stood me up on our first appointment, were 20 minutes late for the second appointment and never called to give me a quote.
What I want is simple, an 11 foot (rail) by 6 foot (door) guardrail that is 42 inches high; two posts on either side of the door; standard black iron, or aluminum or whatever other durable material that is recommended for an exterior staircase guardrail.
Who do you recommend? I've wasted a week's worth of time with the previous company and I am ready to install ASAP.
Thanks!

Just had someone from Bracci Fence come out and the guy was so totally rude. So, anyone but Bracci will do.

bowl,
I called Vinny's and they sent out a very nice gentleman who came to my house within an hour of the call. They are the most expensive by far, but they use wrought iron and they are able to get started immediately. Jimmy was also a sweetheart. Thank you very much for this recommendation. They will be doing my guard rail.

Don't know who you dealt with at Bracci, but we had a site visit and quote from Bracci that was done by Allen Leslie. He was very prompt, professional and courteous. Haven't moved forward on the project as yet so can't tell you about the workmanship. Their pricing is competitive.
