Fire Hydrant

9:43 PM 07/06/2012

Because of the heat wave, our street's fire hydrant has been on continuously. Because of its continuous use, will this affect the water bill for homeowners on the block?

No, the water is being used BEFORE it gets to your meter. It probably will lower your water pressure though and may cause problems for the FDNY if there's a nearby fire.

I've noticed that there are a lot of FDNY installed spray heads on in the neighborhood.  If that's the case there should be no problem.

the hydrants should have spray caps on them and not just shooting a direct stream of water... if you see this.. go to the local firehouse and request a spray cap.. they will put it on...
