Can anyone provide guidance on the condo review board process for renting a unit from an owner at Forte Condominiums in Fort Greene? Is it standard to require certified checks for all fees (including agent, rent, security deposit, move-in, and review fees)?
I don't know about that particular condo, but it is not unusual for management companies to want a cashier's check for the security deposit and the first month's rent. Often they'll take the application fee with a personal check or cash. They usually want certainty when they're just about to hand over the keys.
