I'm interested in finding out if certain Brooklyn neighborhoods have any sewer backup, basement flooding issues, etc. Is there a city agency or website where this info is freely available? Short of asking a realtor to divulge this info, I would like to investigate on my own once I find a property I am interested in purchasing.
I know major flooding should be fully disclosed when a prospective buyer asks; but I'd rather do my homework upfront rather than find out after the fact and go the legal route.
That is a great question. Unfortunately I know of no way to check out areas in Brooklyn where public sewers backup. There is no agency or web site to check. Your best bet would be to discretely ask nieghbors in the community or check for news articles by doing a detailed search. EX. 'sewer backup dyker hieghts'.
