How to Avoid a Public Property Record

10:53 AM 12/07/2011

I am about to buy a house, and I would like to avoid a public record under my name.  Any ideas on what my options are? Do I put it under a family trust?  Under an LLC?
Thank you.

I am not an attorney, nor do i play one on TV.  An LLC can be looked up here:

so there is just an extra step.  However, your lawyer may know how to file such documents so they don't reveal your information online when searching that database (using him/her as a registered agent, and her/his address for service process).  Generally these are pass through for tax purposes (though not for losses).
Other than that, a land trust will definitely fulfill your privacy needs, however there are a host of beneficiary issues as well as potential tax issues.  You would definitely need hand holding for that, or just get one of the online "how-to" kits (NOT!).

Either way, your attorney would be the one to speak with.

An LLC if properly set up will avoid your name showing up in public records. Consult with your attorney.
